Job Summary
As an Emergency Room Technician, you will delivery patient care and perform clinical procedures within the scope of your licensure under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and Provider. Your day-to-day job functions will include:
- Assisting with observation of patients, gathering data and identifying patient care needs
- Responding to emergency situations
- Assisting with patient transport and transfer
- Assisting with cleaning, stocking and maintenance of department equipment and supplies
- Adhering to safety and risk management standards
- Assisting with clerical and communication tasks to support patient care
Education/Experience
- High school diploma (or GED equivalent) and completion of one of the following:
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program OR
- Medical Assistant program OR
- Certified Nursing Assistant program OR
- Licensed Practical Nurse program OR
- Completion of one year of nursing school.
License/Certification
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA.), OR Current Registered Nursing Assistant (RNA.) either recorded by the state as received and in processing, or completed; OR Current Medical Assistant-Cert (CMA); OR Current Medical Assistant-Registered (MA-R); OR Current Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist (MA-P) OR Current Washington State license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- Note: A hospital may elect to limit acceptable certifications to Current Medical Assistant-Registered (MA-R) and Current Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist (MA-P).
- The forms required to initiate the Washington State Medical Assistant-P and/or Medical Assistant-R application process must be submitted to the Department of Health within 90 days of employment in the position, as evidenced by a proof of payment receipt. Certification must be received with 150 days of date of hire in the position.
- Current healthcare provider BLS certification
