Overview

Catapult Learning, a leading provider of special education programming to school districts nationwide, is hiring School Social Worker for a new school program within Thompson School District. The Sierra School of Thompson, to open in August 2019, will serve students with social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties, 6th grade through 12th grade, in a highly-structured, therapeutic environment with a focus on rigorous academics.

Responsibilities

What you will do as a Social Worker:
Our School Social Workers provide counseling services to students in both individual and group sessions as dictated by the IEP and the specific school program environment. Our dedicated professionals will:
  • Lead the Educational Team in supporting students experiencing a mental health crisis and provide support through the process of hospitalization for psychiatric evaluation when necessary. Provide parents and guardians with information regarding community mental health resources and support networks
  • Implementation of verbal and physical components of the school program’s prescribed methodologies for verbal de-escalation or physical management, when necessary
  • Participant in IEP process, attend IEP meetings, and provide updates for IEP Counseling goals and objectives. Contribute both informal and formal assessments
  • Provide social skills lessons in classrooms in collaboration with the teaching team
  • Maintain appropriate school records and provide written reports and communication logs

Qualifications

What we are looking for in a Social Worker:
  • Current Special Services Provider license in School Social Work for the state of Colorado
  • Leadership and Relationship skills are key! You will work with individuals and groups to be an effective liaison with parents, schools and agencies. Lead meetings and conferences, including the resolution of disagreements
  • Ability to interpret data related to student goals for appropriate interventions. Understanding of the IEP process
  • Valid driver’s license to travel locally using your own transportation (mileage reimbursed) or school van
