• Anchorage, AlaskaProvidence is calling a Respiratory Therapist at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. .9 FTE Variable Shift.

In this position you will:
Perform mechanical ventilation set-ups, monitoring, assessment of equipment/patient interfaces, and makes appropriate changes based on ABGs for both pediatric and adult ventilators.
Communicate patient’s status to health care team.
Competent in the input and retrieval of information within the various forms of written and electronic documentation.
Consistently demonstrate and promote safe patient care practices: (i.e., hand-washing, positive patient identification, communication, reduction of infection risks and inclusion of patients/families concerns and access to health care team.)
Participate in department QI Program by collecting and/or compiling data, composing reports, and offering suggestions on ways to improve respiratory service.
Dispense prescribed Respiratory Therapy medications and consults with staff physicians regarding orders related to Respiratory Therapy services.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school Diploma or equivalent or equivalent education/experience
Credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Certifications required at time of hire:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS)
Newly hired Therapists must have the following certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 1 month upon hire
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 8 months upon hire
Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) within 8 months upon hire
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care
1 year clinical experience as Respiratory Therapist
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
