Lead Medical Technologist
Responsible for coordination of the daily activities of a specialized subsection of the laboratory. This includes guidance of testing personnel and overseeing daily technical operations within the department
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
REQUIREMENTS
Performing the responsibilities of the job requires frequent standing and walking. Manual dexterity necessary. Kneel, stoop, crouch and balance occasionally.
Able to lift 10 lbs
Reach from ground to 5 feet. Able to use a step stool in order to access higher areas
Work unassisted under the current configurations of the laboratory

Lead Medical Technologist
Responsible for coordination of the daily activities of a specialized subsection of the laboratory. This includes guidance of testing personnel and overseeing daily technical operations within the department
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Prepare testing samples for clinical toxicology using liquid robotic systems and LCMS instrumentation in a high volume testing laboratory
- Test samples according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Perform, monitor and evaluate quality control data; determine trends, causes or patterns of acceptability or unacceptability of results and initiate or suggest corrective action as needed.
- Assist in the validation of new laboratory tests and/or instruments.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment as needed. Troubleshoot instruments, resolve technical problems and document and initiate corrective action plans and follow through as needed.
- Follow, monitor and enforce all laboratory safety guidelines.
- Assist with receipt, and management of supplies and reagent and notify appropriate personnel when new supplies are needed.
- Prepare, label and test reagents as required.
- Accurately and consistently complete the detailed documentation according to SOP
- Perform/schedule/plan routine maintenance on equipment as needed to minimize impact on workflow.
- Adjust work assignments as required to achieve optimal utilization of resources available in a high-volume testing laboratory.
- Guide testing personnel in established procedures, techniques and any new and/or modified procedures.
- Perform staff laboratory duties as needed for continuity of operations.
- Perform record review of QC/QA, test results, staff competency and other records as needed.
- Any other duties as assigned.
- Occasionally works extra hours to ensure adequate laboratory coverage.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor degree in medical technology, with 6 years pertinent laboratory experience
- Masters degree in chemical physical or biological science with 4 years pertinent laboratory experience
