Receptionist Rural Health Clinic (Rhc)
JOB SUMMARY:
Position requires excellent customer service skills with patients, employees, and the public. Individual must also be flexible, organized and must be able to manage a demanding workload with accuracy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS of this job description include but are not limited to:
- To make appointments and book patients in when they arrive for an appointment in accordance with the practice appointment system and to provide a helpful and friendly service to patients ensuring also that the reception area is neat and welcoming
- To answer telephones promptly ensuring that all in-coming lines are covered at all times.
- Schedule appointments and referrals to other providers
- Register patients, help with the completion of necessary forms, and direct to the appropriate staff person if needed
- Complete encounter forms upon arrival and checkout
- Pull charts of the patients to be seen the following day
- Provide Physician, Mid-level Practitioner, Clinical Assistants, and Office Manager with copy of daily schedule each morning
- Collect fees from patients for services rendered, if due, and also any outstanding balance.
- Reconcile receipts at end of day and prepare deposit
- Confidentiality – Maintain patient, team member and employer confidentiality. Comply with all HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control
- Assist in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies. Alert Office Manager to any equipment malfunction
- Attend in-services and other required meetings
- Enhance professional growth and development through in-service meetings, educational programs, etc
- Performs other tasks and duties as assigned in an efficient, effective and cost conscious manner, complying with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATION and EDUCATIONAL AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to deal with the public, patients, and fellow staff in a position of moderate stress
- Ability to handle busy, multi-line telephone in a pleasant and professional manner
- Must possess typing and/or data processing skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology helpful
- Experience in physician’s office preferred
- Desire to learn
- Professional demeanor, excellent customer service skills, and basic computer skills required
- Possesses good interpersonal skills, initiative, integrity, flexibility, adaptability, and must be a team player
- Ability to pay close attention to detail
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS:
Sitting, standing, walking bending/twisting, kneeling/squatting, reaching, climbing and should be able to lift 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques. Rapidly changing and stressful environment. Ability to communicate with various levels of people. Possible exposure to communicable and infectious disease and hazardous materials. Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements (accidents, injuries and illness). Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations. Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple tasks and inquiries.
