The Health Management Division provides valuable health and wellness services to help people maximize their health and quality of life. Health Management is one of the most critical issues Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama faces in fulfilling its responsibility to be a superior administrator of health care benefits. Primary Responsibilities

The incumbent will organize, direct and manage Health Management activities to ensure maximization of the value customers receive for their health investment. Demonstrate support for organizational changes needed to enhance the effectiveness of the division is a core function. The incumbent should provide clear direction and educate staff on program(s) or business requirements to ensure guidelines are followed. These responsibilities require managers to monitor the performance and workflow of staff to ensure deadlines are met and quality is maintained. This incumbent will also be responsible for vendor management.

Summary of Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Commission for Case Manager Certification (CCMC) or willingness to obtain CCMC
  • Registered Nurse under the Alabama Board of Nursing; or three years of experience in a health related setting such as research, population management, healthcare administration or healthcare analysis
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent conflict management and interpersonal skills
  • Experience monitoring and interpreting data
  • Excellent critical thinking and decision making skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Leadership experience
  • Experience making formal presentations
  • Graduate degree in Business, Nursing, or Healthcare Administration preferred
  • Management experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of utilization and medical cost management principles preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of applicable accrediting organizations such as the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) preferred
