**This is a swing shift position: Monday - Thursday 3:00 pm - 1:00 am, monthly rotating schedule to weekends, Friday - Sunday, 1:00 pm- 2:00 am.**

The Auburn University Critical Care Program is a busy, high quality Small Animal Emergency/Critical Care facility at a teaching hospital and is seeking candidates for a nursing position to care for animals admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, Intermediate Care Ward and those presenting on emergency. The individual in this position will perform a variety of paraprofessional tasks in the care and treatment of animal patients in this specialized clinical service area. Essential functions include, but are not limited to: more advanced activity such as recognizing and recording changes in conditions and vital signs of patients; calculating dosages; collecting, processing and administering blood products; operating and maintaining specialty equipment; responding to emergencies and critical care needs of patients; and orienting and advising students about techniques, use of equipment, and standard policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Entry into applicant pool requires an Associate's degree from an accredited institution in Veterinary Technology or a related field that qualifies an individual to obtain national certification. An active license with the Alabama State Board of Veterinary Medicine as a Veterinary Technician, or passage of the Veterinary Technical National Exam (VTNE) is required. Must have knowledge of processes, methods and procedures associated with animal care. The salary range for Level I is $25,000 - $41,700.

Level II requires an Associate's degree from an accredited institution in Veterinary Technology or a related field that qualifies an individual to obtain national certification plus two (2) years of experience in Veterinary Technology or in the care and comfort of animals. An active license with the Alabama State Board of Veterinary Medicine as a Veterinary Technician, or passage of the Veterinary Technical National Exam (VTNE) is required. Must have knowledge of processes, methods and procedures associated with animal care. The salary range for Level II is $28,000 - $46,700.

Level III requires an Associate's degree from an accredited institution in Veterinary Technology or a related field that qualifies an individual to obtain national certification plus four (4) years of experience in Veterinary Technology or in the care and comfort of animals. An active license with the Alabama State Board of Veterinary Medicine as a Veterinary Technician, or passage of the Veterinary Technical National Exam (VTNE) is required. Must have knowledge of processes, methods and procedures associated with animal care. The salary range for Level III is $31,300 - $52,100.

Desired Qualifications
Desired qualifications include experience with care of hospitalized patients or referral hospital; experience in veterinary technology, as well as detailed knowledge in the field; the ability to obtain needed information to select and adapt methods and procedures; and skill in using specialized techniques and equipment to resolve operational problems not fully covered by precedents.
