RESPONSIBILITIES
The Residential Care Staff is responsible for the direct care services to individuals in our homes. Their responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Direct Care:

  • Direct care includes but is not limited to assisting them with daily living skills; feeding, toileting, showering, personal hygiene, dressing, cleaning personal surroundings, washing, ironing, making bed, feeding.
  • Ensure the health and safety of residents at all times.
  • Implement all components of resident’s IPP inclusive of Service and Training Objectives.
  • Knowledgeable of all special needs of the client, inclusive of the procedures for managing condition.
  • Know and implement the Behavior Support Plan for residents
  • Social/leisure activities, approved outings, community interactions, developmental activities, etc in your care.
  • Administer First-Aid/CPR or CPR if needed.

Facility Maintenance – Refers to the appearance of the residence – cleanliness, maintaining inventory-furnishings, upkeep of clients’ rooms, etc.:

  • Home is cleaned daily, duties completed during shift.(see shift specific duty requirements)
  • Report damages, broken blinds, furniture, missing items, i.e. light bulbs, towels, etc. to Life Coach.
  • Ensure food is properly stored, discarded (if expired),
  • Report needed repairs to Life Coach.
  • Ensure residence is odor and vermin free.
  • Ensure residence is ALWAYS INSPECTION READY.

Medication Administration – Monitoring, documenting, and tracking of prescription and over-the-counter

  • Properly give medications to clients according to MAC training.
  • Complete Medical Assistant Record (MAR) DAILY.
  • Ensure ALL MEDICATIONS are SECURED at ALL TIMES
  • Ensure medications are started on the correct day.
  • Ensure PRN and over the counter medications are administered according to procedure, and start and stop dates.
  • Strive for ZERO medication errors
  • Point out needed corrections to the Life Coach and/or Lead Life Coach as errors occur.
  • Report medication administration errors to the Life Coach and/or Lead Life Coach as they occur.

Paperwork:

  • Ensure all client paperwork is correct and completed before the end of each shift
  • Ensure scheduled items are documented in the MAR’s, training and service objectives, blood sugars, toileting, behavioral charts, ABC Data Sheets, fire drill logs, first-aid and universal precaution kits, secured and management of medication, food intake sheets, vital signs documentation as required, and incident reports in the required time frames.
  • Ensure paperwork IS NOT documented before the activity occurs (i.e. completing MAR before medication given on date of occurrence).

Attendance:

  • Must Show up on time for assigned shift and dressed appropriately (scrubs; top and bottom) for work.
  • Responsible for notifying Life Coach at least 2 hours ahead of shift if not able to work
  • Excessive absenteeism and call outs will result in termination

Additional Duties:

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures developed by Enrestoration, Inc. and strict adherence to all.
  • Participate in all required training and pass certification including, but not limited to, CPR, First-Aid, CPI and MAC.
  • Complete Residential Outcome training as required by QMRP or Coordinator.
  • Attend all agency and staff meetings along with any in-service training.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Residential Care Staff must have a compassionate, patient and mature mindset, flexible work attitude and professional work ethics. Must be self-motivated, nonjudgmental, exercise good independent judgment and work as a part of a team. One year experience with developmentally challenged population is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:
H.S. Diploma required; must be 21 years of age and over. Valid Alabama driver’s license and driving record, acceptable to agency insurer. Clean criminal record, good physical health, capable of lifting at least 50 pounds and walking for an extended period of time. Must be certified or able to pass agency required training’s in CPR, 1st Aide, CPI and MAC Certification.
