Position Summary:
- -To ensure that the Respiratory Care Department personnel are professionally and technically prepared for their responsibilities of providing respiratory care service in an academic medical center environment. To provide safe and effective respiratory care to infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
- -Use clinical and leadership judgement to problem solve with other clinicians across the health care enterprise to adopt best practices.
- -Mentor and provide evaluative feedback about performance.
- -Facilitate changes in respiratory care based on systematic evaluation and evidence-based research
- -Oversees the process for writing, developing research papers/abstracts for regional/national conferences submissions.

EDUCATION:
- Bachelors of Science degree in Respiratory Care or related science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Graduate of a two or four year AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program.
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of (5+ years) of critical care experience in Respiratory Care in a tertiary setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in computer software applications
- Possess and maintain active membership in the National Board for Respiratory Care and the Iowa Society for Respiratory Care
- Possess a current State of Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioner license

Possess a current CPR certification card
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors of Science degree
- Demonstrates skill in developing/implementing/evaluating clinical programs, staff education and development and quality improvement
- Experience in other media/survey technology
- Grant /abstract writing and publication experience

COPD educator, Asthma Educator, Smoking Cessation Educator, Adult Critical Care Specialty (RRT-ACCS), Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialist (RRT-NPS), Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist, ACLS and PALs certified
