Position Summary: As a leader in the Skilled Nursing / Long Term Care industry in Hawaii, we are currently seeking a qualified compassionate Respiratory Therapist to join our team of energetic and dedicated professionals. The purpose of this position is to evaluate, treat, document respiratory care for residents in a skilled nursing facility environment with impaired mental, respiratory and pulmonary function due to disease process; including residents with tracheotomy and residents who are ventilator dependent, and participate in the interdisciplinary team meetings as required.
Work Hours: Per Diem – Call In (Less than 20 hours per week). Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet the operational needs of the Ventilator Care Unit. Rotating 12 hour shifts required. Non-bargaining, not exempt position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requirements: Graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Therapist program. Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Current CPR certification at the Health Care Professional (BLS) level required. Current Hawaii State license as a Respiratory Therapist. Energetic and compassionate personality to make a difference in the lives of our residents.

Experience: One year of respiratory care clinical experience with tracheostomy and ventilator patients in a long term care or a hospital facility.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to relate positively, effectively and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other facility staff. Possess special interest in, and a positive attitude about, working with long term care ventilator dependent residents and the elderly. Must be able to conduct and prescribe treatments of a routine nature which include suctioning, trach care, aerosol administration, Passy-Muir valve education, mechanical ventilation and other modalities associated with respiratory care. Mechanically inclined with technical ability to handle respiratory equipment according to standard procedures. Must be competent and able to take a lead during Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation. Ability to demonstrate strong clinical skills and adapt to a flexible work schedule. Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly and emotionally upset people.
