• Hanover, New HampshireThe Lead Animal Technician assists the Attending Veterinarian with day-to-day vivarium operations while independently providing care to multiple species of laboratory animals as a Laboratory Animal Technician in a safe and sanitary manner in accordance with established federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines, and policies on the use of laboratory animals in the conduct of biomedical research. Provides support to research investigators, technical and veterinary staff in the form of facility operations, sanitation and record keeping.
Required Qualifications- High school graduate or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three years of relevant animal care or relevant experience.
- Must be in good physical condition and capable of lifting and carrying equipment or feed packages weighing up to 50lbs.
- Ability to apply procedures for the care and handling of laboratory animals.
- Strong ability to work in a fast-paced environment efficiently.
- Strong ability to communicate with research staff and coworkers.
- Strong ability to identify priorities in an animal care setting
- Ability to work weekend and holiday schedules.
- Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
- Five years of relevant animal care or relevant experience.
- Successful completion of the AALAS Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) certification.
- Experience or training in plumbing, scientific equipment, or small machinery repair.
