The Medical Assistant assist in the provision of patient care by performing assigned tasks according to policy and address the developmental and age related needs of the patient. Assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. The Medical Assistant must assist in the assessment of patient responses to interventions by performing and recording routine vital signs then performing initial interview to obtain patient data. Identify abnormal assessments of findings, communicating findings to physician, and document assessment findings in the appropriate format. Document all activities according to defined guidelines by completing all documentation requirements in a timely manner by including thorough and complete information and properly identifying self on all patient records. Assist in the education process for the patient by providing information to assist in patient/family learning, and obtaining appropriate educational sheets for patient and place in chart. Obtain referral appointments, prior authorizations, and medicine for patients as needed. Demonstrate performance consistent with the mission and goals of the practice and organization; remain flexible to changing systems; and treats staff, physicians, patients, and visitors with consideration and respect.

Minimum Training and Education: Medical Assistants who have graduated with one year of accredited schooling.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: If not certified must be able to obtain your certification within one (1) year of employment.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Physical Requirements: Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
