SHIFT: Nights (rotating weekends)

SCHEDULE: Full-time

LewisGale Hospital Montgomery (LGHM) is located in the beautiful mountainous region of Virginia, in the backyard of the Virginia Tech University campus. LGHM is a Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) hospital and is a Level III Trauma Center with 146-beds and more than 550+ employees. We are Chest Pain Accredited and hold a Medical Surgical HCA Unit of Distinction.
We are currently seeking a Full Time Night Shift Medical Technologist to join our team. Essential Job Functions include:

  • Performs required procedures in the department according to protocol.

  • Works in an independent manner.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the designated section.
  • Prioritizes work to ensure completions within the assigned shift and within expected intervals, i.e., Stat, Routine, Urgent.
  • Assists the leadership in the completion of miscellaneous duties. May assist in the training and instruction of new employees and MLT students in clinical rotation.
  • Shares daily workload within the department including phlebotomy and processing.
  • Maintains good communication with supervisors, co-workers and customers. Respects patient confidentiality. Demonstrates an awareness of patient/client expectations and always seeks to satisfy.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in all laboratory computer related tasks.
  • Performs and documents instrument maintenance. Performs quality control according to established procedures. Troubleshoots instruments effectively when appropriate.
  • Understands and participates in laboratory QA plan, safety policies, emergency preparedness plan and infection control plan.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications




EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology or related science (required)
  • Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology (preferred)
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  • National Certification in Medical Technology, MT-ASCP, or equivalent (preferred)
EXPERIENCE:
  • Graduate of accredited school of Clinical Laboratory Science (required)
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Technologist (preferred)
