Matanuska-Susitna College (MSC) is seeking a Term Assistant Professor of Veterinary Sciences. This is a bipartite (no research requirement) position. Candidates will serve as Program Head to the already established Veterinary Assisting Occupational Endorsement Certificate program with the goal of developing and launching a Veterinary Technician Program at the college. Applicants will need to be capable of teaching Veterinary Office Procedures (VETT A103), Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology (VETT A201), Veterinary Assistant Practicum (VETT A295), Introduction to Biology (BIOL A102), and /or Human Anatomy and Physiology laboratories (BIOL A111L and BIOL A112L). The successful candidate must be available to start August 2019 and able to teach the courses face-to-face on the Mat-Su College campus.

Mat-Su College is a community campus of the University of Alaska Anchorage. The campus is located on 951 acres in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, the fastest growing region of Alaska. We serve as a major higher education hub for the communities of Wasilla and Palmer. Our student-friendly campus offers small class sizes and state-of-the-art facilities, including paramedic classrooms with a fully equipped ambulance bay, updated science labs, and a new 520-seat performing arts theater, the first in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. The campus has an annual operating budget of nearly $11,000,000 and employs nearly one hundred full-time faculty and staff and more than one hundred adjunct instructors to serve approximately 2,000 students each semester.

Education, Training and Experience Required:

Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine

Two-years in veterinary practice with small and large animal experience preferred.

Evidence of assistant and technician education through involvement in practice affiliated with an accredited program, formal teaching and/or training new graduates/hires.

Candidates will be evaluated on suitability of their academic coursework and preparation, past teaching experiences, expertise and experience relevant to the effective teaching of their specific field, and potential for providing high-quality instruction to undergraduate students in assigned courses at Mat-Su College.
