A pediatric medical practice in Hockessin, DE is looking for a medical receptionist to assist with patient check-in/out, insurance verification, pre-certifications, referrals, patient scheduling, etc.

Job Requirements

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and computer skills
  • Three (3) years prior front desk experience in a medical office
  • Dependable/possess reliable transportation
  • Detail-oriented and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Insurance authorization & verification knowledge
  • General office knowledge/experience with equipment (e.g. copiers, multi-line phone systems, fax machines)
  • Typing skills, working knowledge of word processing, email, spreadsheets
  • Flexible in work schedule (one evening per week, 1 Saturday morning every 1-2 months)

Job Responsibilities

  • Greets and assists patients and families in a polite, prompt, helpful manner, in person and on the phone
  • Handles front desk registration (check in/out)
  • Obtains, enters, and verifies all demographic and insurance information for new and established patients
  • Keeps patient appointments on schedule by checking patients in on electronic medical record
  • Schedules appointments; answers patients' questions; maintains reception area.
  • Obtains revenue: recording/updating financial information; recording and collecting patient charges; controlling credit extended to patients; filing, collecting, and expediting third-party claims.
  • Maintains business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; scheduling equipment service and repairs.
  • Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
