Primary Job Function

Exceeds the expectations of patients and visitors by creating an extraordinary experience in Respiratory Care Department and MGH by greeting people warmly, sincerely and with empathy.

The Respiratory Care student provides daily respiratory care activities under the direction of a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

Current student of an accredited school of Respiratory Care and current Indiana Student Permit to practice Respiratory Care. Strong customer service orientation is required.

Working Conditions:

This position requires the employee to regularly be at risk for occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials.

The employee must be able to work holidays, weekends, day, evening, and night hours, based on the department needs.

Physical and Mental Activities, Tools and Equipment:

This position requires critical thinking skills, math skills, and the ability to lift 50 pounds and push and pull 200 pounds.

This position requires frequent walking, some bending, and standing for periods of time to administer patient respiratory therapy. Use of personal computer, fax machine, pagers and system, and use of all standard Respiratory Care Equipment (e.g. incentive spirometiry, aerosols, and oxygen analyzers.)
