  • VCA Cheshire Animal Hospital located in Cheshire, CT is seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our well-established 24 hour ER/ICU department.

    We are looking for qualified, experienced Technicians to share in an exciting, fast paced environment with a focus on critical care and emergency medicine. The candidate MUST be able to work overnight and weekends. Previous emergency experience HIGHLY preferred. Previous veterinary technician experience a MUST. Candidate must be client oriented and have excellent customer service skills.

    We are a 24-hour emergency/specialty practice looking for Technicians with positive personalities; whose attributes reflect attention-to-detail, self-motivation, compassion, and reliability.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Venipuncture
    • Catheter placement
    • Radiology
    • Anesthesia monitoring
    • Physical examinations and patient assessment
    • Surgical preparation and assisting
    • Laboratory work
    • Pharmacy
    • Patient recovery
    • Compassionate care for hospitalized patients

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must have documented previous experience in veterinary medicine
    • Flexibility in hours including but not limited to evenings, weekends and holidays
    • Customer service skills
    • Working knowledge of computers
    • Excellent communications skills
    • Capable of being cross-trained as receptionist
    • Team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments
    • This a overnight position
