The Capstone College of Nursing at the University of Alabama is pleased to announce a search for the Martha Saxon Endowed Chair in Rural Nursing. We are seeking a senior researcher with a well established record of external funding and publications. The scholar’s research experience could include health disparities, underserved populations, access to care issues or other topics of relevance to Rural Nursing. He or she will be expected to mentor graduate students and junior faculty, obtain external funding, and support our emphasis on Rural Nursing. Responsibilities will include participation in teaching at the graduate or undergraduate level. Capstone College of Nursing has over 2,400 students enrolled in programs leading to BSN, MSN, DNP, EdD and PhD degrees. At the MSN level, we offer concentrations for Case Managers, Clinical Nurse Leaders, Nurse Administrators, and Nurse Practitioners. Our interdisciplinary EdD program is designed specifically for nurse educators; and is jointly taught by faculty with expertise in nursing and education. A new online PhD program is offered in collaboration with the University of Alabama Huntsville College of Nursing.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned research doctorate in nursing or a related field and at least five years of teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching in a PhD program. Applicants are encouraged to submit a cover letter addressing their research and teaching experience, goals, a curriculum vitae, and a list of three or more references. Prior to employment, the successful candidate must pass a pre-employment background investigation.
