Overview and Responsibilities

REQUIRED: Current Medical Assistant Certification (NCCT) - Certified by a National Certification Board (National Center for Competency Testing) & BLS/CPR

SUMMARY:
Providing assistance to all physicians and nurses in the clinic with patient exams and the efficient flow of patients through the clinic. To provide quality and confidential health care to patients by preparing exams rooms, making appointments and filing completed lab and medical record paperwork. Provides personal care assistance to patients under the direction of licensed personnel and /or Administrator. Performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. To assist all physicians with patient exams. The ability to assist specialty physician with surgery and treatment due to additional training, experience and certification. To work-up charts, call patients, put them in an exam room, obtain historical information and vital signs. Schedule patient appointments for exams, other diagnostic tests and surgical procedures. Set-up exam rooms and stock rooms with supplies and clinic forms on a daily basis. Clean exam rooms and instruments at the end of each day. To handle phone messages for physicians and nurses and make calls to obtain information from hospitals, labs, other physician offices and ancillary departments for each patient’s medical record. To call patients and provide report findings from diagnostic tests and to remind them of repeat diagnostic tests. Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Required

Experience

Approved nursing or medical assistant course.
Minimum of one year experience.

Education

Skill in communicating clearly and effectively using standard English in written, oral and verbal format to achieve high productivity and efficiency. Skill to write legibly and record information accurately as necessary to perform job duties.

Training

Approved nursing or medical assistant course

Special Skills

Computer literacy. Maintain Certification
Phlebotomy experience

Licensure
