  • JOB SUMMARY
    Health Education/Wellness Specialist works under the supervision of HealthWorks Manager and Wellness Supervisor. Maintains a minimum of 60 clients; utilizes the Wellness Works Tracking System to conduct health appraisals and ongoing behavior change interventions using motivational Interviewing technique. Performs wellness testing and other duties as assigned.
  • PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
    • Provides excellent customer service at all times (ADIET).
    • Maintains a clean and safe environment for clients.
    • Uses two patient identifiers at each screening station.
    • Consistently use “Final Check” Safety Tool.
    • Performs routine cleaning tasks.
    • Documents according to policy.
    • Accurately and efficiently uses all computer programs.
    • Competent in ALL Wellness screening tests.
    • Works to ensure work-site evulations are Above Average/Very Satisfied.
    • Alerts staff when supplies are needed and replenishes stock.
    • Participates in committees and PI teams in conjunction with strategic plan.
    • Encourage cost savings for department.
    • Encourages cost savings for organization.
    • Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations.
    • Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
    • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • JOB SPECIFICATIONS
    • Education: A minimum of a B.S./B.A. degree in Exercise Physiology, Physical Education, Wellness / Exercise Physiology, and / or a licensed Physical Therapy Assistant.
    • Licensure: Maintains CPR certification
    • Certifications required: See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications/Education Requirements Policy.
    • Experience: Preferred
    • Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Finger dexterity and hand/ eye coordination necessary to perform a variety of wellness tests.
    • Essential Physical Requirements: Sufficient mobility and strength to provide wellness testing. Lifting not to exceed 50 pounds.
    • Interpersonal Skills: Professional and practical communication/interpersonal skills.
    • Essential Sensory Requirements: Ability to visually assess and monitor patients.
    • Exposure to Hazards: OSHA CATEGORY I. TASK THAT INVOLVE EXPOSURE TO BLOOD, BODY FLUIDS, OR TISSUES. All procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or potential for spills or splashes of them, are Category I Tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for every employee engaged in Category I Tasks.
    • Hours of Work: Normally daytime hours although may be required to travel and work evenings and early morning hours.
    • Employees working in healthcare facilities have the potential to be exposed to hazardous materials including: Hazardous Chemicals/Drugs, Waste Anesthetic Gases, Radiation, Latex, Biological Hazards, Respiratory Hazards and Ergonomic Hazards. See Hazardous Materials in the Workplace Policy.
    • All Phlebotomists hired after January 1st, 2016 will be required to complete the Phlebotomy Certification within two years of hire date. All expenses for test and travel will be coverd by CCH.
