    Duties

    Summary

    This position is located in the Northern Region, R1, on the Idaho Panhandle National Forest, St. Joe Ranger District in St. Maries, Idaho.

    At the full performance level, this position performs duties including but not limited to; purchasing and procurement transactions, office machine operations, word processing, and special project assignments.

    Responsibilities

    • Duties listed are at the full performance level:
    • Requisition office supplies, equipment, forms, printing services, maintenance services, etc. as required.
    • Prepare audits and transmits time and attendance reports for employees in the unit.
    • Maintain procurement/purchasing files in accordance with regulations and agency directives and ensures procurement documentation is signed and attached.
    • Review outgoing correspondence for grammatical accuracy and conformance with policy.
    • Receive visitors and handles calls of a routine nature, such as locations of key personnel and recreation opportunities.

    Qualifications

    In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. For more information on the qualifications for this position, visit the Office of Personnel Management's General Schedule Qualification Standards.

    Specialized or General Experience Requirements:

    For the GS-05 grade level: One-year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as: Greeting visitors and responding to phone and written inquiries personally or referring to other staff as appropriate; Maintaining written records and files in electronic and/or hardcopy filing systems; and/or Using word processing software and printing equipment to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve, and print standardized documents ensuring correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format.

    OR

    A bachelor's degree or 4 years of successfully completed education above high school. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.

    OR

    Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours) and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.



    For the GS-04 grade level : Applicants must have one year of General Experience, which is defined as: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work which provided the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position being filled. Examples of qualifying experience are: Clerical, office, or other work such as receiving and sorting incoming and outgoing mail; Using automated software to produce written documents; Maintaining office files; and/or Answering phone calls in an office setting.

    OR

    An associate's degree or two years of successfully completed education above high school;

    OR

    Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.



    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
