Under the supervision of the Director of assigned units and the Manager of Nursing Education, is accountable and responsible for the provision of care and coordination of staff education. The provision of such care demonstrates a knowledge and application of biophysical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, safety and self-care needs that are population-specific to the patient care population. The Educator will facilitate clinical orientation and development by collaborating with Patient Care Directors and the Human Resources Department.

- Develops and implements staff education plans that assure competency, promote patient and staff safety , meet regulatory requirements and align with corporate strategies.
- Plans, coordinates and evaluates the orientation process for new employees in specific clinical areas
- Facilitates patient and family education processes.
- Facilitates the integration of performance improvement into clinician’s education and practice
- Serves as a clinical role model, performing in a professional and ethical manner at all times
- Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for own professional practice, following adhering to organization policies and procedures.
- Provides culturally appropriate interventions during the assessment, care, and discharge planning for different populations served.
- Develops and implements specific educational opportunities for the Maternal-Child population in the community to include:

- Attains and maintains designations to teach the following educational programs for the OB/Nursery staff:
Newborn Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Safe Sitter
Fetal Monitoring
Childbirth Education
- Maintains competency compliance for OB/Nursery and Pediatric staff.
- Minimum of three years clinical experience required. Educational experience preferred.
- Strong written, verbal, and non-verbal communications skills.
- Knowledge of computer assisted data management systems.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of human resource management.
- Safe Sitter instructor within 6 months
- Certified Childbirth Educator within first year
- Fetal monitoring instructor competency within first year.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program Instructor course preferred.
