This position is a full time (1.0 Status), variable shift in the Clinical Lab. A person who performs phlebotomy and capillary punctures on patients in the hospital and other sites upon the request of an authorized person. A phlebotomist instructs clients in the proper collection of laboratory specimens and functions as laboratory receptionist as needed. Phlebotomists perform tasks related to he operation of the laboratory which do not require Clinical Laboratory Scientist licensure. Using established procedures, the phlebotomist prepares specimens for analysis in this laboratory and for shipping to reference laboratories. Phlebotomists enter and review demographic and billing data for patients and test orders on the hospital information system and laboratory information system following all pertinent regulatory requirements. Phlebotomists perform CLIA-waived testing, maintenance and quality control on laboratory equipment, and maintain and order supplies.

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience or education in a medical profession. Must have computer, office equipment, organizational and team skills.

Preferred: One year phlebotomy experience preferred. Enrollment in phlebotomy certification class or completion of accredited course desired. Experience with laboratory information systems preferred. Military trained, on the job, and working under preceptor helpful.

This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol Testing according to MT Law 39-2-205-39-2-211.
