To ensure that all duties assigned are done in a timely manner and to participate in patient care within all aspects of a primary care physician's medical office setting, as well as within the confines of the scope of practice relevant to a receptionist and/or medical assistant. To strive to become the best co worker and caregiver.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Includes, but may not be limited to the following:
MEDICAL ASSISTANT POSITION
- Provides care in an office setting directed toward meeting the medical needs of the patient.
- Care given reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations.
- Utilizes initiative and strives to maintain steady level of productivity.
- Is a self starter.
- Is compatible and supportive; and a team player.
- Communicates on behalf of the patient reflects the mission, ethics and goals of the facility.
- Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
- Coordinates and supervises patient care.
- Gives care to the patient, reflecting flexibility in rules and regulations, as indicated by individual patient needs.
- Makes decisions reflecting knowledge of facts, knowledge of diseases/surgical conditions, care required and good judgment.
- Performance reflects knowledge in all areas of care specific to primary care.
- Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
- Organizes and manages nursing activities reflecting due consideration for patients’ needs and the needs of the facility and staff.
- Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain steady level of productivity; a self starter; compatible and supportive; a team player.
- Knowledge of medications.
- Communicates appropriately and clearly to Administrator, Nurse Manager, co workers and physicians.
- Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians.
- Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
- Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.
- Practices good guest relations.
- Maintains a good working relationship and effective communication within the office and for the benefit of the patient.
- Meets current documentation standards and policies.
- Maintains an environment that provides the patient and family with feelings of safety and security. - General knowledge of sterilization process.
Professional Requirements:

- Maintains regulatory requirements; nursing and facility policies, procedures and standards.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings.

- Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
- Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.

Experience: 1-year medical office experience or other equivalent
MEDICAL OFFICE RECEPTIONIST POSITION
- Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
- Provides care in an office setting directed toward meeting the medical needs of the patient.
- Care given reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations.
- Utilizes initiative and strives to maintain steady level of productivity.
- Is a self starter.
- Is compatible and supportive; and a team player.
- Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
- Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrival; reviewing service delivery compared to schedule; reminding provider of service delays.
- Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area.
- Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
- Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
- Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information; recording and collecting patient charges; controlling credit extended to patients.
- Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
- Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
