Who are we? The James L. Maher Center is a non-profit organization that provides services to nearly 200 participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the East Bay Area and on Aquidneck Island. At this time, we are seeking a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the Maher Center. Duties will include care coordination; written documentation; in-service trainings; assisting in the development of systems to enhance quality nursing services as well as other duties.

The position of the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse requires a person with a valid license as a registered nurse or practical nurse in the State of Rhode Island. The individual must maintain current certifications in all areas of emergency techniques, have knowledge of the philosophy, policies and programs of the Center, ability to recognize and identify symptoms, and have a willingness to promote and participate in formal and informal programs of instruction for individuals with developmental disabilities. Other duties include, but are not limited to, providing basic medical care, including changing bandages, administering prescribed medication and collecting specimens; ensuring the health, comfort and safety of participants; and monitoring and reporting any changes in condition.

Our nurses share the responsibilities to ensure efficient and effective delivery of patient care services through appropriate utilization of healthcare resources. All functions are carried out in accordance to the rules and regulations and in consideration of the aging processes, human development stages and patient choice in each step of the care process.

Weekdays, 30-35 hours per week
