Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, the Phlebotomy Tech Lead assists department leadership with the daily operation and coordination of the phlebotomy team and specimen processing services. This includes training and scheduling of assigned staff, developing and monitoring processes and policies and procedures. The Phlebotomy Tech Lead may also provide input to the Laboratory Manager in regards to the phlebotomy staff performance evaluations and/or improvement. This individual is decisive, collaborative, open-minded, team-focused, wholly in support of the WhidbeyHealth vision and fully invested in the success of the staff and organization within our community. A qualified Phlebotomy Tech Lead will demonstrate the ability to support and further a patient-centered care culture and provide caring and dedicated leadership to their management team. The goal is to develop and facilitate a good working relationship with superiors, providers, clinical staff, couriers, and co-workers. May also be directed and/or instructed by Medical Technologists or Technicians.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
High School Diploma or Equivalent.Washington State Health Care Assistant license required.PBT (ASCP) or equivalent preferred.Five years of experience as a phlebotomist and expert knowledge in areas of specimen collection, registration, specimen processing, and demonstrated skills and attributes of a leader. This includes progressively responsible leadership tasks. Must possess an understanding of critical access hospital operations and have experience providing community-based healthcare in a rural setting. Experience and knowledge of implementing Studer best practices desired.
