Physical Therapist Job Opening

Monongahela Valley Hospital, located 30 miles south of Pittsburgh, is accepting applications for a Full Time Physical Therapist who will organize, conduct, and supervise medically prescribed physical therapy programs to assist patients in restoring function to their fullest potential; prevent disability following disease or injury, or loss of a body part; helps patients reach his/her maximum performance and assume a place in society while learning to live within the limits of his/her capabilities. The qualified candidate must be experienced or have the desire to work in an outpatient and pediatric services arena. Summary of position: Evaluate through specialty tests and develop a plan of treatment for the patient upon referral and/or consult with physician and give recommendations as to the type of treatment which is indicated per patient diagnosis. Administer variety of treatments associated with physical medicine and rehabilitation, specifically, physical measures utilizing the properties of electrical stimulation, heat, cold, water, sound, massage, mobilization and the use of therapeutic exercise and rehabilitative procedures including training in functional activities with our without assistive devices, for the purpose of limiting or correcting any physical or mental conditions. Perform treatment procedures following prescribed methods and observes treatment effects; recommends change to physician if indicated. Confer with patients pertaining to home treatment program as prescribed. Discuss care requirements, and plans with patients so as to secure their cooperation and understanding. Maintains standards as set by American Physical Therapy Association regarding treatment procedure and professional code of ethics. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/License: Candidate must have attained at least a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education and satisfactorily passed a written and/or oral practical examination which shall test an applicant's knowledge of sciences, as they related to physical therapy procedures and therapy. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice Physical Therapy in Pennsylvania.
