OnPoint Medical group at Parker Square Family Practice is looking to add a Physician to the clinic!

The OMG provider will be responsible for both direct patient care and for other administrative duties as designated by the Medical Director and his/her designee and in accordance with the Colorado Medical Practice Act. The Medical Director will provide the overall direction for all OMG activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING
The following statements are illustrative of the essential duties of the job and do not include other nonessential or peripheral duties that may be required. We retain the right to modify or change the essential and additional functions of the job at any time.

Physician’s duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Serving as an educational preceptor for the clinical staff including:
a. Responding to questions/consultations of the staff,
b. Planning and teaching in-services,
c. Developing and approving medical protocols, handouts and clinical standards,
d. Developing proficiency guidelines for mid-level medical providers (clinicians),
e. Reviewing and co-signing medical charts of patients who the mid-level medical providers have seen and about whom they have consulted with the physicians,
f. Meeting with individual mid-level medical providers to analyze their clinical practice and evaluate their individual needs,
g. Assisting in expanding the competencies of the clinical staff,
h. Developing a master plan in conjunction with the mid-level staff that outlines the educational goals which are to be met each semester and a time table for achieving,
i. Meeting weekly with a mid-level representative to plan and coordinate the educational and clinical needs of the staff;
2. Providing medical services to the patients of the clinic, inclusive of all functions necessary to provide quality medical care;
3. Serving as supervisory physician for the mid-level providers regarding clinical issues and State regulatory requirements;
4. Serving as the Health Center’s physician with responsibility for any area of the practice that requires physician oversight (i.e. CLIA regulations, Drug Outlet, etc.); assisting the Director of the Health Center as requested on various projects and issues as they arise;
5. Serving as co-chair of the Health Center quality assurance committee; participating in the ongoing functions associated with quality assurance providing direction/advice as needed.

ADMINISTRATIVE EXPECTATIONS

Category One: Primary Job Functions
1. Practice using sound medical judgment and adhere to all ethical considerations of the practice of medicine; know limitations and seek consult when advisable; keep abreast of current technologies and industry standards;
2. Precept and teach mid-level medical providers enhancing their professional experience; advise clinical supervisor of any associated issues and provide ongoing performance assessments;
3. Participate in out-reach and research activities, as assigned and/or of interest (if approved by administration), that enhance the reputation of the Health Center and are associated with the department’s mission;
4. Monitor and mentor the other staff physician to ensure continual performance improvements (Medical Director only);
5. Meet all clinical obligations of the Health Center’s medical practice: CLIA medical supervision, drug outlet, co-signing, HIPAA, State and Federal regulations, etc.;
6. Follow all internal policies and procedures; be accountable for completion of all operational tasks according to departmental guidelines to ensure appropriate clinical processing/documentation;
7. Continually advise administration of any issues that may impact the practice;
8. Assist Health Center administration on an as requested basis regarding a multitude of dept. needs;
9. Effectively collaborate with Counseling Center personnel and other associated departments on campus, providing essential interactive synergy.

Category Two: Administrative Relations and Accountability
1. Demonstrate on-going support and respect for administration in all communications, either privately with staff or in a group setting; never participate in creating an us vs.them (clinicians vs. administration) mentality;
2. Address any administrative issues directly and in private with those concerned;
3. Time management: utilize time on the job for Health Center’s related activities and for the assigned tasks during specific blocked-out times by administration; routinely see patients in the time allotted, adjusting to daily patient flow issues to remain on schedule;
4. Work productivity must demonstrate ability to see a minimum case load of 10-20 patients per day; effectively work patients into their schedules as the Health Center caseload demands and respond to a variety of unforeseen daily circumstances, including emergency care of patients;
5. Adhere to administrative priorities, without setting conflicting personal ones;
6. Serve as a role model, representing the Health Center on associated medical issues;
7. Contract physicians are not routinely involved in “internal practice management issues”, however, their ideas, views and comments can be directed to the Clinical Supervisor who serves as the clinician’s administrative voice. “Internal practice management issues” include, but are not limited to, personnel issues, administrative decision making, departmental priority setting, and creation of operational policies and procedures; in addition, physician advice and input will periodically be sought and constructive suggestions welcomed; however, the Health Center goals and operational processes are established internally by the Director and the supervisory staff of the Health Center;
8. Reporting: all physicians report directly to the Health Center Director and his/her designees, which include the Clinical Supervisor and the Asst. Director
9. Physicians must be flexible, adapt to change, and serve as a role model for staff through interactions; physicians should at times think outside the box, providing possible resolutions/solutions to issues/concerns, rather than simply pointing out a problem area;
10. Understand and be sensitive/supportive of the unique needs associated with a college health service that operates in an educational environment;
11. Comply with all HIPAA rules and regulations.

Category Three: Staff Development
1. Assist in creating a constructive professional atmosphere for the staff by being a positive influence; actions/comments should enhance morale and staff relations;
2. Serve as a resource for administration in various capacities related to a wide range of needs; meet periodically with administration at their request, either routinely or on an as needed basis;
3. Serve as a role model for staff by setting a good example, which includes but is not limited to punctuality, demeanor, communication, customer service, work load, etc.;
4. Learn new technologies and commit to providing leadership and training to the staff as new technologies are implemented.
5. Primary Care Physicians are responsible for call coverage during the day. There is no night call. This includes ensuring that call coverage is provided at lunch if no physician is present in the Health Center.
6. All Physicians are to see patients in a timely and efficient manner, staying reasonably on time for scheduled appointments throughout the day, unless exceptional circumstances occur. Patient relations, consumer satisfaction and long standing Health Center goals of staying on time necessitate this important consideration.
7. The financial viability of the Health Center requires that all physicians be held accountable for their actions with regard to proper coding and appropriate charging for all services rendered.
8. All primary care physicians time-off requests shall be directed to the Director of the Health Center or his/her designee.
9. Health Center policies and procedures will be followed by the physicians, including becoming proficient in using all components of the Health Center’s electronic medical records system. Physicians are to learn and use internal operational systems already set up at the Health Center. The Director of the Health Center will work with the physicians on any suggestions that they may be interested in pursuing. There will be an attempt to accommodate individual physician practices, but limitations of staffing, budget, etc., may not allow such in every instance.
10. Charting in the patient’s medical record is routinely to be completed on the same day as the patient’s visit. However, a 24-hour window is present for exceptional circumstances. Co-signing of medical charts should be completed within 3 days. No medical records are to leave the premises.
11. Physicians functioning as Medical Directors are responsible for ensuring that all physicians adhere to consistent clinical staff expectations regarding protocols and clinical care. The role of the Medical Director is assigned by the Director of the Health Center and may be reassigned at any time during the terms of this contract.
12. Primary Care Physicians assigned to the Health Center will be capable of performing the primary care services listed below (or willing to learn those services that they may not be proficient in):
a. Minor surgery (toe nail removal, mole and cyst removal, foreign object removal, etc.),
b. Suturing,
c. Fine Needle Aspirations,
d. Casting/Splinting,
e. General Orthopedic Evaluations/Management,
f. Review of x-rays (Radiologist reports usually available),
g. Basic rehabilitation for musculoskeletal injuries,
h. General Dermatology,
i. General Eye Problems and Use of Slit Lamp on site,
j. General EKG interpretations - Cardiologist review of faxed tapes can be set up with University Hospital for cases needing such review,
k. Emergency management skills - use of defibrillator on site,
l. Allergy shot administration; patients who are under the care of an allergist have their shots given at the Health Center,
m. Primary Care Physician’s General GYN Expertise - thorough knowledge of managing patients on various birth control pills and associated complications is essential as well as knowledge of pap smears and sexually transmitted diseases.

Category Four: Supervisory
  • Midlevel Personnel: Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner
  • Patient Care Technician oversight of IV Medical Mixture and Administration
  • Patient Care Technician oversight x-ray

Minimum Education/Experience
  • Must possess a Medical License through the State of Colorado
  • Board Certification for specialty
  • Strong computer skills required. EMR experience preferred
  • Basic Life Support card
