The Farm Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing daily farm activities (both field and non-field) and managing employees to fit accordingly in collaboration with the Farm Manager.

Specific Duties will include:
I. Farm Management & Farm Activities – oversee farm activities in collaboration
with farm manager to plan and schedule daily activities that need to be
conducted by farm associates. This could involve anything from deciding
which piece of equipment needs repair or maintenance, to which field/variety of grass
should be harvested/planted during the growing season.

  • Records Management – help to manage and input various farm records. This will involve working with the Farm Manager to insure all applicable records are entered into the corporate data system on a timely basis.

III. Must be familiar with mowing and sod harvesting equipment along with irrigation experience.

  • Storage Management – help manage/control our workshop and surrounding areas.
  • Work Orders and Inventory of Parts –oversee the shop farm mechanic to oversee the completion of work orders for all repairs to farm equipment. This will also involve the ordering of parts for farm tractors and field equipment as needed.
  • Farm Mission – perform assigned tasks as requested to help the Farm Team

accomplish the overall Farm Mission which is to produce the highest quality turf-grasses for market.
Physical Demands:
Physical demands will vary according to the season and type of work being performed.
However, the employee must be able to complete the following,
1. Walk in fields for an extended period of time evaluating growing crops.
2. Work in hot ( >90°) temperatures.
3. Must be able to work well with hand tools.

Education & Experience Requirements
I. Experience in farming or crop management systems. Minimum 5 years work
experience on a sod production farm and/or relevant experience.
II. Turf-grass production experience or agronomy related degree is a plus.
III. Experience in the supervision of employees.
IV. Computer skills to maintain inventory and work records. This would
include use of excel, word, and outlook from the Microsoft office software.

Experience:

  • Farming: 5 year (Preferred)
  • Computer Skills: 1 year or more (Preferred)
  • Microsoft Office: 1 year or more (Preferred)
  • Supervising: 5 years or more (Preferred)
  • Must have knowledge of fertilizer, herbicide, pesticide application rules and best practices.
  • Needs to hold a pesticide license or be willing to complete certification course promptly after hire.
