Summary: Provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to residents of Terrace Grove Assisted Living Center

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

  • Explains procedures and treatments to residents to gain cooperation, understanding and to alleviate apprehension
  • Prepares equipment and aids Physician during treatment and examination of resident
  • Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the resident, as prescribed by Physician and/or facility policy including residents and family instruction
  • Dresses wounds, gives enemas and other treatments as prescribed by physician. Applies compresses, ice bags and hot water bottles
  • Takes and records resident's vital signs. Records food and fluid intake and output. Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned residents
  • Participates in departmental and facility quality improvement activities
  • Administers specified medication, orally or by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection, and notes time and amount in residents' charts. Observes residents and reports adverse reactions to mediations or treatment to medical personnel in charge
  • Assembles and uses such equipment as catheters, tracheotomy tubes and oxygen supplies
  • Collects samples, such as urine, blood, and sputum from residents for testing
  • Educates residents and family members on prescribed diets
  • Assists patients with a variety of activities of daily living and other patient related needs

Job Requirements

Education

  • Position requires an Associate's degree or certification from an accredited program

Professional Licensure

  • Requires licensure within the state of Utah as an LPN

Other Qualifications/Requirements

  • Requires excellent interpersonal communication and supervisory skills
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and Food Handler certification required (in-house training available for CPR/First Aid)
  • Competence in current nursing standards/practices/skills
  • Capable of demonstrating compassion and appropriate boundaries with patients

Supervisory and Reporting Responsibilities

  • Reports to Terrace Grove Director of Nursing
  • Supervises Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA's) on duty
