We are currently looking for FLEX Respiratory Therapists to join our team!

Clinical Practice - Administers respiratory care therapeutic and diagnostic services with skill and proficiency. Routinely integrates knowledge, skills and experience to promote optimum care for the patient. Patient Care- Routinely interacts with healthcare team, patients and families as a professional and exhibits the Core Values of EAMC in all areas of care. Safety and Environment of Care- Applies clinical practice guidelines to ensure patient and employee safety at all times. Follows standards of care and department policy at all times regarding equipment use, cleaning and equipment checks. Professional Development - Assumes responsibility for self-development through continuing education and maintains all appropriate credentials and licensure. Aids in the advancement of the Respiratory Therapy field. We are in the process of becoming a Level II NICU facility as well.

Minimum Required:
  • Successful completion of all clinical rotations for respiratory therapy program
  • Graduate from an entry or advanced level education program with a minimum of an associate degree or grandfathered into CRT program by NBRC
  • Training in at least 2 patient populations
  • Working knowledge of the arterial puncture procedure and interpretation. Proficient in English.
  • ACLS, BLS, CRT and PALS must be obtained within 12 months of date of hire or transfer.
  • Must have current Alabama Board of Respiratory Therapy state license.
FLEX Position Expectations:
  • FLEX employees will be considered full time employees with a guaranteed minimum schedule of 12 hours per week. FLEX employees will be eligible for all full-time benefits offered by EAMC as long as guidelines/expectations are met

  • Expected to be available to work 12 to 40 hours per week.

  • Must work when scheduled.

  • May receive schedule changes/adjustments with a 48 hr. notice

  • Expected to check the work schedule regularly for any schedule changes.

  • While FLEX staff may float to sister units, they are considered part of the core staffing for their home department. The home department is considered priority.

  • FLEX staff may refuse a schedule assignment only 5 times within a year before losing FLEX staff status. Upon the fifth refusal, the employee will lose their full-time benefits and be converted to per diem status.

  • FLEX staff may be assigned to other units in which they are competent if they are not needed in their home department
