Medical Technologist/MLS/Medical Lab Tech

The technologist performs and interprets standard, complex and specialized tests.


Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance to the established FMC policies, procedures and guidelines.


Job Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. A Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or one of the chemical, physical or biological sciences is required.


Licensure/Certification: American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required.


Experience:

Essential Job Functions

Job Expectations and Responsibilities:

  • Performs full range of chemical, microbiologic, immunologic, hematologic, and immunohematologic laboratory procedures.
  • Evaluates test results and follow-up with appropriate action.
  • Performs instrument calibrations, maintenance, QC & troubleshooting procedures.
  • Completes all internal and external documentation as per policies and procedures.
  • Provides administrative and technical consulting on laboratory testing.
  • Assists in the training of laboratory personnel, other healthcare professionals and consumers.
  • Participates in evaluation of new techniques and procedures in the laboratory.

Physical Capacity Demand

Medium Work: Exerting up to 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10-25 pounds of force

frequently, and/or a negligible up to 10 pounds amount of force often.
