Job Description:

Management and coordination of the Electrical and Plumbing Apprenticeship programs in collaboration with the Vermont Department of Labor (VDOL).

  • The Program Coordinator, in conjunction with the VDOL Apprenticeship Program Supervisor, will recruit, interview and recommend the hiring of new instructors and after yearly reviews, recommend the non rehiring of certain instructors. The Program Coordinator will verify the rate of pay for each instructor and have contracts written.
  • The Program Coordinator will coordinate Kick Off day, Graduation, OSHA 10 trainings and Exam Prep classes which will include hiring of instructors, scheduling space, notifying participants, etc.
  • The Program Coordinator will coordinate with sites which may include classrooms at the local career & technical centers, high schools and distance learning options to secure classroom space, negotiate prices and complete the necessary contracts with sites if required.
  • The Program Coordinator will set up the start dates of classes, schedule dates of classes, develop the site calendars and coordinate with sites during the year. The Program Coordinator will attend the first night of each site opening as possible or as soon as possible thereafter.
  • The Program Coordinator will conduct instructor observations per the schedule and observe all classes regularly throughout the year to ensure quality and timely delivery of classroom instruction.
  • The Program Coordinator will meet with participants and coordinate academic support as needed.
  • The Program Coordinator will receive attendance weekly from instructors, prepare class attendance reports and submit to VDOL weekly highlighting any issues.
  • MidTerm and Final Exam grades as well as Final yearly grades will be submitted to VDOL as soon as possible after being received from the instructors and verified by the Program Coordinator. VDOL will be notified of any issues as they arise.
  • Standardized MidTerm, Final and Test Out exams will be updated yearly per instructor recommendations and distributed to instructors for review and use within the classes.
  • The Program Coordinator will coordinate instructor meetings.
  • The Program Coordinator will update course descriptions as needed and disseminate to instructors.
  • The Program Coordinator will develop the book list for classes each year, coordinate with the VTC Bookstore to make sure they are available for students and order books and materials for instructors.
  • The Program Coordinator will verify and document that each student has attended the Diversity/Harassment Awareness training and OSHA 10 training during their time in the program.
  • The Program Coordinator will prepare and submit the quarterly financial reports to VDOL.
  • The Program Coordinator will oversee the Apprenticeship Program administrative clerks working at the Williston and Randolph Center sites.
  • There will be times that the Program Coordinator will be required to work a flex schedule to accommodate the requirements of the program. This may include evenings and weekends.


Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in education, business or marketing or other appropriate discipline plus 3-5 years of relevant experience in a college/continuing education environment or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are required. Master's Degree preferred.

  • Expectation to work evenings and/or weekends.

This is a grant funded position with funding expected through June 30, 2020. Availability of employment is dependent on grant funds.
