MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree with current national certification/registration as an Occupational Therapist required
- Five years practice experience in the field of occupational therapy. This experience must include: clinical practice as an occupational therapist, administrative experience (program planning/implementation, personnel management, evaluation, and budgeting), and an understanding of an experience working with occupational therapy assistants
- Currently licensed as an OTR/L in Alabama
- Must have demonstrated competence in each area of instruction; minimum of one year of full-time teaching experience at the college level preferred
- Must be proficient in curriculum development, instruction, student evaluation, and advising, and have knowledge and experience with a variety of instructional methods and strategies
- Must be skilled in the use of instructional technologies to enhance learning, and must be able to adapt to and incorporate new and emerging technologies
- Experience with distance learning technology and practices is preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate and maintain a high level of competence and expertise in the teaching field or subject area.
- Develop, implement, and teach courses that are designed to meet individual student needs and ensure an effective learning experience.
- Evaluate and record student performance and achievement in a timely manner, and provide prompt feedback to students and the administration in order to assure learning outcomes are met.
- Participate as a contributing faculty member of the College, including participating in planning long-range and short term goals for the department and College, as well as maintaining regular office ours and participating in faculty meetings.
- Maintain and contribute to required reporting, self-study documentation, and site visits as needed for accreditation purposes.
- In order to perform these essential functions, the Instructor must be present at work. Therefore, attendance is an essential function.
