JOB SUMMARY:

The administrator is responsible for the strategic planning, overall administration, management and profitability of his or her local hospice site. The Administrator is accountable for all activities and departments in the delivery of hospice services. The Administrator ensures compliance with Federal and State regulations as well as other accrediting bodies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, preparation and/or experience to include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or health or equivalent in education and experience. RN with master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory or administrative experience in a home health agency, hospice or related health care program.
  • Demonstrated leadership and proven ability to lead motivate and organize teams.
  • Demonstrated ability in program development and administration to include knowledge of health care policies and reimbursement practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and development.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, to include some evenings and weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

  • Responsible for the operational budget and assists in the planning, overall development, and administration of the agency.
  • Monitors business operations to ensure financial stability.
  • Monitors utilization of cost-effective delivery of resources through financial management verifies/approves admitting diagnosis, treatments, staffing and supplies, monitors cost-effective delivery of services.
  • Supervises the day-to-day operation and administrative function of the hospice program including, but not limited to Financial Management (implements an effective budget).

  • Participates in the development, implementation and/or monitoring of administrative policies and standard procedures as they relate to the Hospice Program with the agency structure.
  • Implements company policies, procedures and standards approved by the governing body.
  • Directs implementation of approved work methods and procedures that reflect elements essential to rendering high-quality hospice care.
  • Participates in the review, analysis and appraisal of the effectiveness of the hospice agency programs.
