Medical Technologist I Job Opening

Accessioning and bacteriology technician for the Utah Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.

Receive and accession medical samples/specimens of animal origin. This includes:

• Reviewing submitter requested test(s)
• Entering submitter and sample information into the laboratory information management system
• Assigning and delivering samples to respective laboratories
• Contacting clinicians/clients to obtain information and/or alternative samples
• Mailing out samples for additional testing

Serve as the bacteriology technician for the laboratory. This includes:

• Sample specimens and culture for bacterial isolation
• Using MALDI-TOF technology identify bacterial species
• Maintain control bacterial cultures
• Perform antimicrobial sensitivity testing

Other duties as assigned

Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent in work experience in a biomedical science

Preferred qualifications:

• Previous experience isolating and identifying bacteria
• Veterinary technician certificate
