Overview

Service Coordinator - GI Lab - Endoscopy
Full Time, Day Shift, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Monday - Friday, Rotating Week Night, Weekend and Holiday On-Call Shifts

The endoscopy lab is a fast paced environment. All GI department nurses train and work the following roles: pre-op nurse, circulator nurse, conscious sedation nurse, assistant to MD during procedures, recovery nurse, and cleaning/high level disinfection of our flexible endoscopes. The endoscopy lab has 5 procedure rooms.
We work with:
  • 5 board certified Gastroenterologists to perform EGDs, Colonoscopies, and ERCPS.
  • 2 bariatric physicians to perform screening EGDs prior to bariatric surgeries.
  • 27 pulmonary physicians to perform basic bronchoscopy to more advanced procedures (EBUS and/or Navigation)
  • 2 Neurologists who perform muscle/nerve biopsies and we also work an anesthesiologist who performs pain blocks.
The ideal candidate for this role must be flexible, having the ability to switch roles quickly. Good critical thinking skills, a solid nursing skills set, self-starter and great team player are all qualities needed in order to be successful in this role.

Position Summary: Provides leadership and oversight for specialty area. Acts as a resource for the specialty area.

Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience: Minimum of four (4) years professional experience. GI experience strongly preferred

Continuing Education: Thirty-five (35) plus hours required annually (15 to enhance clinical expertise); or Thirty (30) hours required annually, plus ACLS; or Twenty (20) hours required annually, plus specialty certification; or Twenty (20) hours required annually, plus ACLS instructor; or Ten (10) hours required annually, ACLS instructor, and specialty certification. Yearly infection control, fire, safety and CPR in-services are required.

Licensure Requirement: Valid Tennessee RN license.
