Summary:

3-5 years medical/clinical experience in ambulatory care and a graduate of Medical Assistant program.

Responsibilities:
1.1
Perform Point of Care Testing and quality control. Performs EKGs as necessary. Ensures positive patient identification.
1.2
Understands how to utilize the following systems: Current health information system, DHIN (Delaware Health Information Network), Provider Portal, Web sites for insurance verification/eligibility and other systems as needed.

Follows protocols appropriate for the practice. Routinely demonstrates proper technique in operating all office equipment. Maintains clean/stocked patient care area.

Completes office support tasks accurately and within required time frames. Returns and retrieves messages timely and utilizes the EMR inboxes to sort messages.

Medical Assistant Skill Proficiency. Assists nurses/techs with patient preparation for examinations, treatments and/or procedures.

Prioritizes. Demonstrates initiative. Readily seeks out duties and works with all staff to render assistance. Completes all duties in a positive and productive manner. Takes an active role in performance improvement.

Conscious of biohazard safety as it relates to the job; manual delivery of specimens to lab, changing of gloves between patients. Handles specimens using proper techniques. correctly labels for transfer to lab. Routinely performs all duties using appropriate PPE and in accordance with OSHA standards.

Interview patient or patient’s representatives to obtain demographic and insurance information necessary for medical records identification and billing process. Uses the 2 identifiers, patient name and date of birth.

Inputs registration information into computer system, verifies accuracy of data entered, pre-reg accounts, and scans appropriate documents. Understands the scanning functions.

Processes electronic medical record. Follows up with referring physician’s office to collect additional records as needed; Understands how to Manage Medical Records in accordance with HIPAA regulations for patients and other facilities requesting medical records.

Verifies Insurance eligibility 100% and medical necessity, using websites (HDX) and computer applications. This includes new and established patients. Verifies if patient needs referral for physician visits. Daily reconciliation of co-pays. Follow daily billing procedures
