POSITION SUMMARY

The Laboratory Client Services Coordinator performs administrative duties for efficient laboratory operations.

This position assists with the collection, handling and preparation of specimens for laboratory testing as directed and according to established departmental standards. Duties include verification and labeling of specimens, handling and transporting specimens, preparation of slides, and maintaining necessary supplies. This role may include the dispatch, coordination of collection, and transport of laboratory specimens according to established procedures, in a manner that supports quality patient care. Participation in an on-call and weekend rotation as needed may be required.

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or highest level of degree required

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Heart Saver AED Certified required.

EXPERIENCE: Valid Drivers License required. ASCP/Phlebotomy certification or registry eligible preferred. Previous hospital phlebotomy experience may be substituted for certification. Incumbents working in a phlebotomist role must maintain 12 CEUs annually. Current Heart Saver AED certification required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer.

Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

Strict compliance with laboratory Fraud and Abuse policies and requirements is an employment condition.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the laboratory environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.

This position demands increased amounts of standing, bending and manual manipulation, as well as some light lifting.
