Surgical Technologist to include Sterile Processing
Full Time Day shift – Monday through Friday - 7a to 3p – No Call, No Weekends or Holidays. Must be able to perform Sterile Processing duties.
St. Vincent’s St. Clair hospital is in Pell City, AL. Our Surgical Services Department has three OR Rooms and one GI room. We have 10 Same Day Surgery Beds and 8 PACU bays. We do general surgery cases, all ortho cases including total hips and knees, GYN surgery, ENT, cataracts and pain blocks.

What you will do:
  • Performs decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to established protocols.
  • Inspects instruments, equipment and containers to assure cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Corrects instrument sets according to current standards and established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.
  • Maintains proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
  • May assist in the GI lab with EGD/Colonoscopy and scope washing.
  • Prepares surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
  • Hands required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
  • Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
  • Maintains instruments in an organized manner and monitors and tracks instruments counts throughout procedures.
  • Assists surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.
Required Credentials:
  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate degree, or Technical degree in the field required
