Requires the ability to use fractions, decimals and commercial arithmetic. Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation is required. Equivalent to a four (4) year high school education.

One (1) to three (3) months as a nursing assistant, home health aide, or eldercare volunteer.

JOB DUTIES:
- Assist in providing the direct personal assistance and supervision needed by residents, including assisting residents when necessary on an individual basis with their bathing, dressing, eating, walking, going up and down steps, and attending to any personal needs the residents may be unable to attend to themselves.
- Encourage and assist residents to care for their grooming, clothing and toilet articles, including care of the body, hair, gums, teeth, dentures, finger¬nails, clothing and personal items.
- Supervise, on an individual basis, residents who smoke and need individual supervision.
- Aid in providing occasional or incidental medical care such as ensuring appropriate therapeutic diets are provided to residents, rotating positions of residents confined to bed, and applying heating pads as needed.
- Respond immediately in case of an accident or incident involving a resident and make a proper report of the incident.
- Handle non-routine housekeeping tasks such as wiping up a water spill, doing laundry, empting trash cans, changing sheets, attending to a resident’s soiling of their bed or assisting a resident make their bed.
