The RN is responsible for the excellent and timely delivery of care to a variety of patients in the Emergency (ED) and Urgent Care (UC) setting. The RN must have the knowledge to assess, establish acuity and prioritize patients of all ages and presenting conditions including but not limited to; pediatric, geriatric, surgical, medical, neurological, stroke, orthopedics, cardiovascular, respiratory, trauma injuries, EENT, behavioral, GI, GU, shock and substance abuse. Working within the model of “Safe Patient Family Centered Care”, the RN collaborates with the Health Care team to prioritize care, deliver prescribed interventions, monitor for effectiveness of interventions, and meet the patient and families’ needs. The RN works under the direction of the designated leadership team.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current licensure on the State of Maine Board of Nursing.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • ACLS, PALS, MOAB must be obtained/maintained within one year of hire.
  • Additional certifications, such as but not limited to NRP, TNCC, ENPC are encouraged.
