• Anchorage, AlaskaProvidence is calling a Laboratory Assistant I (Lab Outreach Admin, Variable Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
In this position you will:
Provide efficient, accurate, and courteous service for PAMC patients, physicians, employees or residents of Nursing Homes.
Provide accurate and timely collection and receiving of specimens for all patients in accordance with medical center and laboratory policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations.
Accurately enter data into hospital and laboratory computer systems related to patient billing and charting.
Perform processing functions to assure integrity of specimens for testing.
Explain collection procedure clearly to patient and properly identifies patient prior to collection.
Obtain complete documentation for the registration process including signatures and related billing information.
Store blood specimens in appropriate containers and at proper temperatures to assure integrity for testing.
Measure, aliquot, and prepare urine and body fluid specimens for testing.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license may be required
Computer and customer service skills
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
6 months in a laboratory setting
Experience in phlebotomy and specimen processing strongly preferred
