Infection Preventionist/Quality Assurance Nurse

• Hanover, New HampshirePart-time, 24-30 hours/week with flexible hours. Kendal at Hanover is seeking a dynamic nurse leader to serve as our Infection Preventionist/Quality Assurance Nurse. The successful candidate will lead and implement the Infection Control Program and support Kendal at Hanover’s Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities by performing education, data generation and analysis of key quality indicators. This position requires a variety of activities with varying degrees of complexity, high degree of accuracy, factual dependability, independent thinking, specialization and concentration in clinical areas. Specific responsibilities include:
- Assumes responsibility for overseeing compliance of the Exposure Control and Infection control Practices of Kendal at Hanover, utilizing the national standards/guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC).
- Is the primary resource person for infection prevention issues with ongoing collaboration with other staff to provide optimal resident care and track infections
- Assumes responsibility for developing and revising policies and procedures related to the Infection Prevention Program to ensure standards met.
- Maintains ongoing communication regarding infection prevention and quality assurance with the Director of Nursing.
- Meets quarterly with the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) team to evaluate the effectiveness of the surveillance plan and modify as necessary through preparation of a quarterly infection report for the QAPI program.
- Coordinates with the Community Health Educator to provide education as needed to residents and staff in the areas of outbreak prevention, safe medication administration, and CPR certification, etc.
- Monitors staff competencies for hand hygiene prior to all procedures, sterile technique where indicated and correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Qualifications:
- Nursing degree (RN or LPN) from a college program; with two to four years related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- The employee must be able to walk, stand, and bend most of the shift, and be able to lift up to 30 pounds, as well as, regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate skills for communicating with all ages, especially the geriatric population
