Job Summary
- Receive and follow work schedule/instructions from your supervisor and as outlined in our established policies and procedures.
- Assist in interviewing residents/guardians and obtaining required information and signatures.
- Assist in the orientation program for residents/personnel in accordance with our established policies and procedures.
- Admit and prepare identification records for residents in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Admit, transfer and discharge residents in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-department personnel, as well as other departments within the facility.
- Assist in recording all incidents/accidents.
- Ensure completeness of paperwork before filing and file in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and records, files, etc. are properly stored before leaving such areas on breaks, end of work day, etc.
- Collect, assemble and check admission papers. Forward to appropriate department.
- Obtain the resident’s assigned room number. Place on all necessary admission papers.
- Forward completed medical records to the Medical Records Department as appropriate.
- Refer admission problems to proper authority, Le, office supervisor, credit manager, nursing service, etc.
- Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of performing the assigned duties of the Admitting Clerk.
- Handle all patient admission aspects.
- Prepare, complete and register admission paperwork.
- Manage and solve admission problems.
- Interview patients about their medical history;
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients and their families.
- Inform families about patient’s conditions.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and attending doctors in establishing patient admission, discharge or transfer.
- Ensure compliance with health care admission policies and regulations.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients.
- Assesses patient’s physical, psychological, social, and environmental status; identifies problems and appropriate interventions and initiates the Plan of Care based on those findings.
- Records observations accurately and concisely to be maintained in the medical record in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Participates in on call rotation.
- Participates in the Care Team meetings and all staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
