KVC is seeking a dedicated Case Manager or Therapeutic Case Manager to provide oversight and case management services to children and families in order to facilitate safety, permanency, and well-being.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned according to the qualification of staff and development of programs.
  • Continue to build a child welfare system that is safe, secure, and stable; family centered; connected to the community; which relies on evidence-based practice necessary to support contract services in Kansas.
  • Provide in-home reintegration and adoption services to clients and their families.
  • Maintain regular communication with the child(ren) and parent(s) as directed by supervisor.
  • Organize and facilitate case planning conferences with family members and other professionals.
  • Complete child social histories.
  • Attend school meetings and communicate with educational professionals as needed.
  • Maintain regular communication with foster homes and kinship caregivers.
  • Gather information on children and family functioning and integrate that information into comprehensive assessments.
  • Provide Independent Living services to children as needed in partnership with KVC Independent Living Services.
  • Assess viability of relative and kinship placements through home studies.
  • Assist parents in finding community resources such as housing, employment, transportation, utilities, and mental and physical health care.
  • Provide referrals for mental health services and any other required service for the children and/or family.
  • Maintain working relationships/communication with the Department for Children and Families and other community partners.
  • Prepare well-written court reports.
  • Complete all court orders as directed by the court.
  • Testify in termination of parental rights trials and other court hearings.
  • Supervise parent/child and other family visits as needed.
  • If requested, complete adoption home studies.
  • Develop safety plans and aftercare plans with families as needed.
  • Provide on-call crisis intervention on a rotating schedule.
  • Document all contact with clients and collaterals; complete case activity logs each month and keep record of all related documentation; maintain client files.
  • Transport clients to visits and appointments as needed.
  • Attend required trainings.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Experience

Required
  • This position requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree, in a field that is able to be licensed by the Kansas BSRB (ksbsrb.ks.gov), from an accredited college or university. Current, pending or temporary licensure through the Kansas BSRB is acceptable. Previous experience in children and family services preferred. Preference will be given to applicants who have current or recent experience in this or a similar role with current contractors in the Kansas child welfare system.
