**Position overview: **

The Acquisitions Editor is responsible for setting the vision and executing on the strategy for the Microsoft IT certification product portfolios. The Senior Editor is tasked with gaining deep market knowledge through customer insight by establishing customer relationships that ultimately help drive product innovation, development and growth across the portfolio. This includes overseeing acquisitions of new products, development of new and revised programs, and expansion and investment of essential digital product offerings. In addition, the Acquisitions Editor is responsible for establishing the financial base of the portfolio by creating P&Ls and managing budgets to achieve profitability goals.

**Position Responsibilities: **

+ Function both as the primary stakeholder and the editorial manager for assigned projects and market segments within the strategy of the Portfolio Manager.

+ Work collaboratively with other Pearson businesses to develop products that can be sold across multiple channels

+ Develop deep discipline and market knowledge to drive product development decisions for the portfolio while assessing global market demand for digital courseware across the portfolio.

+ Establish portfolio business case and related KPIs including financial performance, product contribution, and learner outcomes.

+ Scout for and sign new authors to build a strong future product pipeline.

+ Scout for and sign new partnerships with professional associations, technology vendors, user groups, etc.

+ Create strong author relationships with both existing and new authors by working closely with them to outline a vision for each product.

+ Work collaboratively with the Portfolio Manager and author/SME on the creation of original digital products and digital derivatives, including instructional video, online courseware, online practice tests, and live online training, to help drive the team’s digital growth goals.

+ Conduct ongoing market research including meeting with subject matter experts, attending relevant conferences and trade shows, reviewing market and job skills based research, and soliciting of customer feedback.

+ Analyze product reviews and market feedback and decide best solutions for our customers that drive growth.

+ Collaborate with Product Management to recommend discipline relevant technology roadmap improvements.

+ Create P&Ls and manage overall portfolio budget.

+ Manage revisions and new product development

+ Collaborate with Sales and Marketing on revision plans, sales presentations and tools, etc.

+ Travel as needed for focus groups, conferences, events, and campus visits to develop market insights, strengthen community network and drive revenue performance

**Qualifications**

**Qualifications Required**

+ BA/BS.

+ 1 - 3 years experience in technical publishing, educational product development, project management or equivalent

+ Highly analytical with the ability to synthesize multiple viewpoints into actionable plans.

+ Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively for a diverse audience.

+ Intellectually curious with a passion for solving customers problems.

+ Creative problem solver who uses data to inform decisions.

+ Ability to work in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment.

+ Excellent negotiation skills.

+ Prior experience in digital product development/management or project management will be an advantage.

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

+ Ability to travel 10%
