  • POSITION SUMMARY: 4 hours weekly in CT at Londonderry.
    Performs all radiographic procedures for assigned patients which creates a therapeutic environment for pediatric and adult patients and family.
    Performs all CT examinations for assigned patients which include adolescents, adults and older adults. Creates a therapeutic environment for pediatric and adult patients and family. Carries out functions in a manner consistent with total quality care.
  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Maintains a working knowledge of all radiographic, MRI, and CT Scan equipment within the department.
    • Prepares and positions patient for CT, MRI, and X-Ray procedures according to the procedure manual.
    • Adjusts technical factors in proportion to patient and body part being examined while minimizing radiation.
    • Prepares and/or administers contrast media, i.e., orally, IV, rectally.
    • Checks patient charts for lab results and allergies prior to the administration of IV contrast.
    • Provides radiation protection to patient, staff and self according to prescribed safety standards.
    • Recognizes emergency situations, initiates code procedures, administers first aid/CPR as needed.
    • Assists patients on and off imaging tables.
    • Answers telephones, takes bookings and prepares daily schedules.
    • Assists in ordering supplies.
    • Demonstrates adequate anatomic positioning skills.
    • Utilizes devices for immobilization.
    • Performs daily safety warm-up and quality control checks on equipment.
    • Utilizes sterile techniques to prevent cross contamination to patients and instruments.
    • Prepares, administers, and documents activities related to contrast (medication).
  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
    • Demonstrates an understanding of human anatomy, human physiology, pathology, pharmacology, computer technology, basic patient care and assessment techniques, radiation physics, radiation biology, radiation protection, and medical terminology.
    • Maintains a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure technique.
    • Maintains knowledge about radiation protection, safety and current scanning protocols.
    • Assists the licensed practitioner in the completion of interventional procedures.
  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE
    • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology required. Current status of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
    • Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist required, with two (2) years working in CT preferred.
    • Certification/Licensure: Computed Tomography preferred. ARRT(CT) required within 24 months. ARRT certified required. Current CPR Certification required. Ability to obtain BLS qualification during orientation period and maintain during employment.
