Health Unit Coordinator II, Critical Care Unit
Full Time, Night Shift, 72 Hour Minimum Per Pay Period, Three weekends required during a six week period and alternating holidays.
Critical Care Department: A 30 bed unit composed of an 8 bed Neuro Intensive Care Unit (NICU), 8 bed Medical Surgical ICU (MSICU) and a 14 bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMC). Ft Sanders is a Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Regional Referral Center that offers many full service lines to care for all East Tennessean needs with a 1:2 nurse-patient ratio. Fort Sanders offers an Intermediate Care Unit that is a fast-paced unit caring for a variety of medical patients that do not require critical care, but still require closer observation, with a 1:3 nurse-patient ratio.
Position Summary: Provide clerical and secretarial services to the nursing unit. Will work in the Critical Care Department and may float to the ED as needed.
Minimum Education: None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.
Minimum Experience: Must be a CNA at the time of hire or be a HUC I, PCA or CNA with six or more (6+) months of experience at a Covenant Health facility and complete the Covenant Health’s Patient Care Assistant training protocol OR For HUC II working in Cardiac Areas- completion of Apex modules 1-6 and/or telemetry class completed prior to hire or placement in a HUC II role. Completion of Covenant Health Unit Coordinator Curriculum within 2 weeks of hire required Certification by National Association of HUCs and COPOE training preferred.
Licensure Requirement: External new hires must have CNA certification.
