Part-Time Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse – Center for Behavioral Health – Essex County Job Opening

The Mental Health Association of Essex and Morris is seeking an Adult Psychiatric Advance Practice Nurse to join our Montclair based outpatient department. We are a long-standing, highly reputable agency that promotes mental health to improve the care and treatment of individuals with mental illness.

Qualifications: Current and valid RN, APN, CDS & DEA certificates. Must be certified in the Specialty of Psychiatry. Must be enrolled in Medicare. Needs to have experience with an EMR system. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and in collaboration with the Medical Director.

Responsibilities: Collaborate with the entire interdisciplinary team to ensure effective clinical operation of the Center for Behavioral Health (CBH) program. Evaluate applicants for treatment (both psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacologic). Prescribe and administer psychotropic medication to consumers who can benefit from such medication. Provide comprehensive health assessments to adults with mental illness. Provide ongoing psychoeducation, medication monitoring and medication counseling to all consumers who are prescribed medication through CBH. Participate in Meaningful Use indicators such as measuring height and weight, taking blood pressure and digitally prescribing medications. Provide consultations and re-evaluations on a scheduled or emergency basis of all CBH consumers at the request of their therapists and/or the Director. Participate in chart audits of other APN’s twice a year. Work a minimum of 6-8 hours per week. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Medical Director.
